(LINTON) - One Linton man is behind bars after admitting to the murder of a 34-year-old woman.
34-year-old Gregory L. Hale faces one count of murder and a class A felony following the death of Jennifer Peak of Sullivan County.
After Sullivan County police officials were called to the home of Peak to do a welfare check, they discovered the interior of the residence to be full of smoke with peak lying dead in her bedroom.
Hale then is believed to have taken the victims Ford F-150 from the scene and then set it on fire and abandon it near the Greene-Sullivan State Forest.
Hale and Peak reportedly had a prior relationship with each other.
Indiana State Police became aware of Hale and his committed crime after he made statements to nearby acquaintances.
Hale was tased down at his residence after becoming aggressive with officers and taken into police custody.
