(ORLEANS) - Orleans Police were dispatched yesterday afternoon to investigate a motorcycle crash on State Road 37 & Martin Street.
70-year-old Jerry D. Wilkerson of Columbus Indiana was driving a 1982 Yamaha motorcycle on highway 37 when 49-year-old Diana Daggy of Mitchell attempted to turn onto Martin Street and drifted left of center.
Wilkerson saw Daggy's vehicle coming towards him in his lane locked his brakes in attempt to miss Daggy's car.
He skidded his tires forty-one feet before hitting the front headlight.
Wilkerson was thrown from the motorcycle and landed on the roadway, luckily while wearing a helmet.
Daggy was issued a citation for driving left of center.
The motorcycle driver airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital in Kentucky.
Police were called to the scene at around 2:46 p.m.
