(OOLITIC) - At 7:27 yesterday evening police officials received a call of a possible drowning taking place in an Oolitic quarry.
The group of people were enjoying the surprisingly nice weather that was not forecasted to be the day that it was, when the 22-year-old Bloomington resident decided to jump into the quarry, as most do, but did not resurface.
When officials arrived at the scene at around 7:40 PM Cassell had still not surfaced.
Indian Creek Volunteer firemen assisted DNR divers which where later called to the scene to assist with the search of the swimmer.
Due to the fact that the incident happened in water it now under the control of DNR.
Officials did not leave the scene until around 11:00 PM.
Ben Chadley with DNR reports that the body of Cassell was recovered and that so far as they know he dove into the quarry off of Patton View Lane and simply did not resurface.
It is currently classified as a possible drowning.
