(UNDATED) - Heavy rains and strong winds passed through the listening area earlier this morning causing havoc in the streets of Bloomington.
Flash floods and power outages were the norm in the college city, as numerous cars were left stranded due to the rapidly rising water.
Approximately three to four feet of water was standing at the intersection of 3rd Street and College Mall Road leaving 6 cars stranded and forcing the fire department to help rescue the occupants inside.
Standing water was also a problem at other intersections in Bloomington including 2nd and Walnut, Lincoln and Seventh Streets, and Third and the SR 45/46 bypass.
After the rains subsided and crews were able to clear storm drains the waters are finally starting to recede and now the city is left with cleaning up downed trees and trying to restore power to the places that have been left powerless.
While plenty of water is still standing it would appear the worst is over, and fortunately no injuries were reported with the storm.
