(BROWN COUNTY) - Dottie Mae Andrews, a 40-year-old woman who was found outside her estranged husbands burning home early Friday, has now been charged with murder in the Brown County Circuit Court.
Prosecutor Jim Oliver filed three counts against Mrs. Andrews, including felony murder, arson and burglary, the latter two being Class B felonies.
Her husband, the murder victim, 44-year-old Robert Andrews was found inside his burning home dead with a gunshot wound to his head.
Mrs. Andrews waited outside his home until all of the lights went out and then entered the house and shot her husband while he slept in bed as well as shot their dog.
Mrs. Andrews, who was found in a shed on the property with burns to her body, was airlifted to Methodist Hospital.
She reportedly planned on shooting herself inside the home as well but her .25 caliber handgun jammed.
She escaped the house fire, which she reportedly started, and called 9-11 as she layed in the yard.
