(LAWRENCE COUNTY) - The Bedford Fireworks display, one of the best in southern Indiana, reached its fundraising goal.
Brett Werley, the owner of the Golden Corral restaurant in Bedford originally posed a challenge to the Fireworks Fund, holding a $4,500 check in his hands if the fund could raise the same.
The Fireworks Fund raised $5,185 dollars, $685 over the needed amount, bringing the total amount raised for this years fireworks to $9,685.
Susan Gales with Bedford Revitalization Inc. told WBIW that the Knights of Columbus will be taking donations during the parade and during the fireworks display to additionally help pay for insurance costs, electricity, and sound, as well as other city cost related to the Fourth of July events.
Gales said that "It looks like we will be able to pay for the fireworks, we were always planning to have them, it was just a matter of would we be able to afford them. We are in a really good position right now and we will be getting with Brett Werley at Golden Corral for him to make the match that he promised.
The parade is tomorrow starting at 11:00 AM, be sure to be in your seats by that time.
Starting the parade will be the grand marshal lap, a patriotic salute, flag raising, and then the finale of a military flyover at 11:30 AM.
The weather forecast from The Weather Channel shows on and off thunderstorms possibly being severe for tomorrow.
