(GREENE COUNTY) - A Vincennes man was thrown into jail by Greene County Police officials Tuesday after they were informed of pornographic pictures of a minor on his cell phone.
The previously charged child molester's phone was found inside a car and was given to Linton Police after the person who discovered the phone had pictures of someone she knew on it exposed.
Greene County Sheriff's Deputy Terry Wade made the arrest after he interviewed Chet M. Mitchell for the pictures on his phone.
Last Wednesday, the Greene County Prosecutor's Office filed preliminary charges against Mitchell of child exploitation, a class C felony, and sexual misconduct with a minor, also a class C felony.
Mitchell was scheduled for a hearing in Greene Superior Court last Thursday.
The whole investigation began only last Sunday, quickly revealing the crime and putting the man back into jail.
The girl stated in an interview with police officials that Mitchell was at her home on Friday and he had taken the pictures during that time while they were alone.
She also said Mitchell had first touched her then started grabbing her.
The 14-year-old girl identified the hand in the cell phone picture as Mitchell's hand. Mitchell was charged with child exploitation, a class C felony, and sexual misconduct with a minor, also a class C felony.
