(LAWRENCE COUNTY) - Anyone that lives in Lawrence County has most likely seen the huge welcome to Bedford sign.
The sign is located on the south end of highway 37 as you enter Bedford. It was built using parts of a crane and is designed to look as if it were at a Limestone Quarry during operation.
It was put up in the late 70's and early 80's officially faming our county as the "Limestone Capital of the World". If you haven't noticed lately, the statue is not in the best condition.
The Bedford Chamber of Commerce is working with the city of Bedford, the Lawrence County Tourism Commission, and Jay Fiddler of Johnny's Sign to raise funding to replace the welcome sign.
If you or your company would like to help with fundraising, you can give Jim Timbrook with the Bedford Chamber of Commerce a call at 275-4493.
