(BEDFORD, IN) - Bedford Police responded to a possible car wreck in a Bedford neighborhood yesterday morning.
When police arrived at the scene they discovered a 1997 Jeep Cherokee sitting smashed against a residential utility box.
Once at the scene, police , at first, saw no sign of the driver of the vehicle but, as the day progressed and investigation furthered, police managed to locate the supposed driver; a 17-year-old male, heavily intoxicated.
Using the vehicle registration information, police managed to contact the teens parents who later brought the boy into the station; the teen was arrested for operating while intoxicated.
He was also charged with fleeing the scene of a wreck.
Police report that after driving left of the roadway and crashing into several different objects, the 17-year-old Bedford North Lawrence High School student fled the scene.
Alcohol was listed as the primary cause of the wreck.
Following the investigation, the teenager was released to his parents and put under the authority of the city probation office.
