(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Indiana Education Officials unveiled I-STEP results Wednesday, showing that more than a quarter of Indiana students at each grade level failed to demonstrate basic knowledge of English or Math.
The state's highest performers were in the elementary grades. 74% of third-graders, 73% of fourth-graders and 70% of fifth-graders passed the state language arts test.
72% of third-graders, 70% of fourth-graders and 76% of fifth-graders passed the math test.
Middle-schoolers fared worse with 69% of sjxth-graders, 67 % of seventh-graders and 65% of eighth-graders passing the language arts test.
73% of sixth-graders, 68% of seventh-graders and 67% of eighth-graders passed the math portion.
69.9% of North Lawrence students passed the language arts portion of the test; 71.4% passed the math portion.
70.7% of Mitchell students passed the language arts portion of the test; 72.8% passed the math portion.
72.6% of Orleans students passed the language arts portion of the test; 84.3% passed the math portion.
67.7% of Paoli students passed the language arts portion of the test; 71.8 passed the math portion.
62.7% of Springs Valley students passed the language arts portion of the test; 70.3 passed the math portion.
66.2% of Shoals students passed the language arts portion of the test; 65.9% passed the math portion.
75.3% of Loogootee students passed the language arts portion of the test; 84.3% passed the math portion.
71.6 % of West Washington students passed the language arts portion of the test; 75.2% passed the math portion.
73.0% of Brownstown students passed the language arts portion of the test; 76.4% passed the math portion.
65.1% of Eastern Greene students passed the language arts portion of the test; 64.1% passed the math portion.
