(BLOOMFIELD, IN) - A Greene County man was sentenced Friday for the crime of producing child pornography this past May.
66-year-old Basil Turpin was sentenced to 20 years in prison following a guilty plea in the courtroom of U.S. District Judge Larry J. McKinney.
An FBI investigation was conducted after an individual presented a video cassette tape to the Greene County Sheriff's Department originally thought to have been blank.
The tape revealed to police, a young male child under the age of 16 engaged in explicit sexual conduct filmed in Turpin's bedroom.
FBI Officials searched Turpin's residence the following day and eventually charged him with one count of production of child pornography.
During Turpin's sentencing, it was ruled that following Turpin's release from prison, the man would have to register for life as a sex offender.
