(NASHVILLE, IN) - Little Nashville Opry was operating this year without a required permit that included inspections by the State Fire Marshal.
The Indiana Department of Homeland Security says the Opry failed to renew its entertainment permit for 2009.
The permit requires an inspection to check if smoke alarms are working, exits are unobstructed and other fire safety measures.
For a venue the size of the Opry, a permit costs $203.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire that recently destroyed the music venue.
