(ZELMA, IN) - The Lawrence County Sherrif’s Department were informed Sunday that a weapon used in a murder case in Chicago was connected to a Lawrence County man.
The South Suburban Chicago Police informed the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department Sunday that the department obtained a handgun as evidence during an investigation of a murder in suburban Chicago that was reportedly connected to a Lawrence County man.
According to Lawrence County police, the Chicago Police Department spoke with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department stating that they where in possession a 9mm handgun that had been used in a Chicago murder and asked that county police question the Lawrence County man in which the handgun may have once been possessed by.
Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig tells WBIW that it is unclear at this time as to how exactly the gun was connected with the Lawrence County man.
He says that the gun could have possibly been sold numerous times before reaching Chicago.
When police arrived at the man's residence to question him about the gun they discovered that the man had since moved.
The county sheriff's department has not released any other information at this time.
The apparent gun owner has not been listed as a suspect in the murder.
