(BEDFORD, IN) - A 19-year-old Bedford man was arrested Monday evening for allegedly raping a female in the back seat of her car in January.
Logan K. Melvin of Bedford was booked into the Lawrence County Jail Monday evening and is facing the rape charge which is a Class B felony; he was then released from the jail on a bond of $50,000 cash or $37,500 surety.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Logan and a friend met two females in the parking lot of Shawswick Elementary School around January 23rd.
Melvin reportedly proceeded to move to the back seat of the occupied vehicle where he had alleged sexual intercourse with one of the females.
The witness reported that the victim repeatedly asked Melvin to stop because he was hurting her.
The January crime was later reported to Lawrence County Police.
Melvin is scheduled to appear in court for an initial hearing at 8:30AM on November 16th.
