(COLUMBUS, IN) - A Columbus man fled from police both by vehicle and on foot following an attempted traffic stop by police.
51-year-old Randall L. Meece of Joseph Cox Court was arrested by police following the chase.
Police reportedly spotted a van with a broken tail light; when police attempted to pass the van, the driver held his hands over his face trying to hide his face from police, raising suspicion.
According to Deputy Chief Matt Myers, Meece fled from the police, driving off into the county.
After coordinating with the Bartholomew County deputies, stop sticks were thrown in the vehicle's path in an attempt to stop Meece.
Meece then ran into a field, where he was arrested.
After collecting Meece's information, officers discovered that he was wanted on a warrant for failing to appear in court.
He is being held in Bartholomew County Jail on suspicion of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, resisting law enforcement on foot, criminal recklessness with a vehicle and driving while suspended.
