(CORTLAND, IN) - A farmer found dead in his wrecked grain truck Tuesday night, reportedly died as the result of a heart attack.
Preliminary Investigation from Indiana State Police Trooper David Owsley stated that 62-year-old Seymour native, Joseph P. Kerkhof's loaded Mack truck leave the right side of 425 East and come to rest on its side in a ditch.
Indiana State Police, along with Jackson County Sheriff's Department responded to the report of the overturned truck at around 6:44PM Tuesday night to discover Kerkhof lying across the truck's seat unresponsive and not breathing.
After several attempts to resuscitate Kerkhof, Jackson County Coroner Roger Wheeler pronounced the driver dead.
Kerkhof was reportedly harvesting corn prior to his heart attack.
