(FRENCH LICK, IN) - Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman joined several business and community leaders Tuesday afternoon to introduce a new economic development organization.
The new organization is called Radius Indiana and spans Lawrence, Orange, Martin, Washington, Crawford, Daviess, Dubois and Greene counties.
The announcement came yesterday in French Lick at the French Lick Resort Casino.
Skillman explains in a press release that "radius is the product of tremendous collaboration by our partners in this eight-county region and represents an opportunity to more closely align south central Indiana's economic development efforts with the state's emphasis on regional economic development."
Radius Indiana is funded by both private sector money and tax revenues generated from the French Lick Casino, which have been directed by the Indiana General Assembly to support regional economic development.
In addition to providing expansion and attraction services to counties, the new organization will coordinate state and regional resources.
Radius will be housed for now on the campus of NSWC Crane.
