(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - A Bloomington bank was robbed at gunpoint yesterday afternoon at around 2:00PM.
According to Bloomington Police Sergeant Jeff Canada, the Bloomfield State Bank was robbed by a man who entered the bank, pointed a handgun at two bank tellers and demanded money.
The robbery was described by Canada an in and out situation, with the man only spending about a minute inside the bank; the man then ran from the front door of the bank in a south or southwest direction.
The suspect is described as a white male, wearing a zippered hoodie sweatshirt, a ball cap and white tennis shoes.
The hoodie was pulled up over the man's head and he wore something to cover his face.
Police say that no customers were inside the bank at the time of the robbery.
Police officials, including the K-9 unit, and local FBI agents investigated at the scene and in the area.
The amount of money taken was not disclosed at this time.
The North Walnut Street branch of Bloomfield State Bank has been robbed four times in its past, once in January 2005 and three times at gunpoint in 1998.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact Bloomington Police at 812-339-4477.
