(BEDFORD, IN) - Area police are investigating several recent thefts and robberies.
Officials in Greene County say that two city-owned trucks were stolen; suspects also attempted to steal vehicles from a local car dealership and from Linton-Stockton High School.
Linton Police Department Police Chief Troy Jerrell believes all four cases are related because of the method that was used to start the two city-owned Dodge pick-up trucks.
Several Echo chainsaws, handheld blowers and Echo trimmers were taken from the inside of Scotland Snapper & Cycle in Greene County which was broken into Tuesday morning.
Bedford City Police are also investigating a rash of thefts from vehicles.
Bedford Police report that reports were coming in on Friday, November 13th of items stolen from unlocked vehicles in the Stoneway drive area.
Residents are advised to keep car doors locked and report any suspicious activity.
Indiana State Police are also still investigating the robberies of two area banks one in Bloomington and another in Spencer.
Suspect in People's Bank Robbery in Spencer.
Robbery suspect in Bloomfield State Bank in Bloomington.
State Police also believe that the suspect involved in Bloomington's bank robbery may be part of a series.
In Lawrence County, according to Sheriff Sam Craig, at least six homes in the northern part of Lawrence County have been burglarized within the past few weeks.
Homes in the rural Springville area have been targeted, mostly during daytime work hours.
Craig says that the suspects "go up and knock on the door or ring the doorbell and if no one comes to the door, they will make entry and commit the crime."
Craig is asking that anyone with information or that sees suspicious activity to call police and inform them of what they saw; he's says that the littlest bit of information that doesn't seem to mean anything, can be the piece that solves the puzzle.
Anyone with information or to report a crime can call Bedford Police at 275-3311, Lawrence County Sheriff Department at 275-3316, Greene County Sheriff Department at 384-4411 or Indiana State Police at 1-800-423-1286.
