(UNDATED) - Several Indiana state parks will be closed temporarily for deer hunting.
Two hunts will take place at the following parks; parks with firearms hunts are Chain O'Lakes, Charlestown, Harmonie, Lincoln, Ouabache, Pokagon, Potato Creek, Prophetstown, Shades, Shakamak, Spring Mill, Tippecanoe River, Turkey Run, Versailles and Whitewater Memorial. Parks with archery hunts include Fort Harrison and Clifty Falls.
The first hunt will be November 16th through 17th and the second on November 30th through December 1st.
Wildlife officials encourage the hunts during the dedicated times, stating the hunts help maintain deer browsing and healthy ecosystems in the parks.
Officials say the parks will close to the general public the night before each of the hunts and reopen the morning after they end.
