(BLOOMNGTON, IN) - A Springville man has been arrested on preliminary charges of rape, burglary and confinement in connection with a sexual assault that was originally reported in July in the 700 block of South Woodlawn Avenue in Bloomington.
The woman reported to Bloomington police that a man threatened her with a knife, tied her up with an electrical cord and sexually assaulted her multiple times after obtaining entrance into the house by standing on a chair and climbing through an open window.
A DNA sample taken from the victim's sexual assault examination matched a DNA profile that was already on file at the police department.
Bloomington Police Luetenant David Drake said Monday that "15 years ago, this case would have gone completely unsolved because we didn't have the DNA technology that we do today.
"33-year-old Jason Arnold Bridgewater was arrested at 1:00PM on Monday by Bloomington police and was booked into Monroe County Jail at 3:08 PM Monday.
