(UNDATED) - According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration data, an average 570 fatalities occur each year during the holiday period.
With an estimated 81% of Americans traveling by car to their Thanksgiving destination, the Vision Council says more than 11 million Americans have uncorrected vision problems, which can significantly their ability to drive safely.
While Indiana has vision screening requirements for driver's license applicants, the Vision Council says four years is not often enough and getting your eyes checked before hitting the road for the holidays is key to safety behind the wheel.
