(BEDFORD, IN) - A 26-year-old Bedford woman was killed in a car wreck late Wednesday evening in Mitchell.
According to the Lawrence County Sheriff Department, Kelly J. Algozino was pronounced dead at the scene of the car wreck.
Algozino was reportedly traveling northbound on Teke Burton Drive approaching Highway 37 and as her 1997 four door Geo Prizm began to come around the curve on Teke Burton Drive, her vehicle went off of the right side of the roadway and became airborne for 70 feet, traveling over an embankment and into a ditch hitting a rock pile, flipping the car "end over end."
Police reports indicate that following the wreck, the driver was pinned inside the vehicle.
It is unclear at this time why exactly the vehicle left the roadway but speed is believed to be a factor judging by the distance the vehicle traveled.
According to Lawrence County Coroner John Sherrill, drug and alcohol tests were taken but did not show any results as being a factor.
Along with the Lawrence County Sherrif Department, Bedford Fire Department as well as Mitchell Fire Department were on the scene.
