(SEYMOUR, IN) - Fire tore through a Seymour car dealership Tuesday afternoon.
Officials say that the fire started in a paint booth inside the Bob Poynter GM-Chevrolet on Jackson Park Drive and was mostley contained to that particular area.
Fire crews found it difficult to fight the blaze due to heavy, blinding smoke inside the building as well as the possibility of paint cans exploding.
The ceiling of the booth eventually fell ontp the car that had just been painted.
Seymour Fire Battalion Chief Brad Lucas said that the fire caused an estimated $400,000 damage because of the amount of paints and supplies stored in the building as well as the cost of the paint booth.
Owner Bob Poynter said he believes the shop will be up and running fully again within 30 days.
