(PAOLI, IN) - Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman announced yesterday that the state is awarding a multi-million dollar grant to the Hoosier Uplands Economic Development Corporation (HUEDC).
According to a press release, a $5.3 Million grant is being awarded to Paoli for a revitalization project in the College Hill neighborhood.
Hoosier Uplands joins 24 other recipients who have received funding through the federal Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP).
Skillman says that the end result of the grant will provide the neighborhood with affordable housing options that will allow for a diversified mix of renters and homeowners.
The funds will possibly be used at the former Paoli High School which will be converted into 22 apartments.
The project also includes plans to for the renovation of five or more owner-occupied homes in the area, upgrade the water system serving the College Hill residents, and create a public park or playground for the entire district.
