(NORTH VERNON, IN) - Authorities say a North Vernon man accidentally shot his girlfriend while trying to unload a handgun in their vehicle.
31-year-old Robert Peppers is accused of shooting 40-year-old Kellie Rafferty of North Vernon, while they were driving Saturday night in the area of Taylor and Rocky Ford roads.
Rafferty was shot in the stomach but not seriously injured.
