(KURTZ, IN) - A Salt Creek Township trustee was flown to an Indianapolis hospital after suffering burns covering more than 40% of his body.
Investigators say that 77-year-old Rodney was severly burned Thursday morning at a horse camp in the Maumee area of northwestern Jackson County.
Hilderbrand was reportedly trying to start a fire when his clothing caught on fire at Maumee Valley Horse Camp north of Kurtz.
Hilderbrand was treated at the scene by Jackson County Emergency Medical Services before being taken to Hamilton Township Volunteer Fire Department where the man was then flown to an Indianapolis Hospital.
Hilderbrand sustained second-degree burns over 46 percent of his body.
