(COLUMBUS, IN) - Two people died and two others were injured, including a five-year-old boy, after a head-on crash in Bartholomew County Friday afternoon.
Police say 19-year-old Katlin Piper was driving eastbound on State Road 46 just west of I-65 when his car crossed the center line, hitting a pickup truck driven by 57-year-old Michael Brickley.
Piper died at Columbus Regional Hospital and Brickley was pronounced dead at the scene after being ejected from his truck.
Two passengers in the pickup, 46-year-old Rochelle Saine and her five-year-old son were taken to separate hospitals.
Saine suffered non-life threatening injuries, but the boy was airlifted to Methodist Hospital in serious condition.
Police think piper may have been distracted by a low-flying airplane.
