(UNDATED) - The Vice President of the Indiana High Speed Rail Association says the omission of a route from Illinois to Ohio should be a “wake up call” that the state “has some work to do” in boosting its presence in passenger rail.
The White House recently announced northwest Indiana will receive more than $71 million in federal stimulus funds for high-speed rail.
Indiana High Speed Rail Association Vice President Dennis Hodges says he was surprised that $2.8 billion wasn't provided for the Chicago to Cleveland route that would have included Gary and Fort Wayne.
