(BROWNSTOWN, IN) - Governor Mitch Daniels met with Jackson County officials and reporters Wednesday afternoon to discuss that state’s recent $300 million cut in state funding for education.
Many of Jackson County officials fear the funding cut may lead to the closure of the Freetown Elementary School.
Brownstown Central Community School Corporation administrators have been looking into possibly doing just that.
Daniels said he is not in favor of closing schools but wants school corporations to take a closer look at shaving costs.
He states, "thirty-nine percent of the Indiana education dollar is for outside the classroom."
