(SALEM, IN) - A Washington County insurance agent was arrested Friday in connection with an insurance fraud investigation.
Authorities say that 36-year-old Tyson J. Thompson of Salem, turned himself in to the Washington County Jail.
The man is now facing a charge of insurance fraud, which is a Class C felony.
The charge came following an investigation that began in late October of 2009 after Detective Scott Stewart from the Indiana State Police received a phone call from an investigator with a national insurance company.
The investigator informed Stewart that Tyler Thompson was collecting insurance premiums from customers and did not forward the premiums to the national parent company.
Reports indicate that Thompson had collected more than $15,000 in insurance premiums.
