(STATEHOUSE, IN) - Supporters of keeping the entire month of August part of summer vacation are halfway to their goal.
The Indiana senate has voted 31-19 to ban school from starting until after labor day.
Summer vacation would have to start by June 10, although school boards could vote to change that.
Supporters call the bill a win-win: kids get to enjoy being kids, schools still hold to the required 180 days of class time, and leisure-related businesses get an extra couple of weeks of their busy season.
