(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller is investigating the Monroe County Assessor’s office.
The investigation began following claims that the office hired an appraisal firm for the county's reassessment without a contract approved by the state.
The Attorney General's office says the investigation was prompted by a certified audit of the Monroe County Commissioners.
It shows the county paid Nexus group more than $200,000 for services in 2008 without a contract.
