(BEDFORD, IN) - General Motors is adding 245 jobs at its factory in Bedford by 2013. GM currently has 366 workers at the aluminum die casting plant.
The new jobs are expected to be filled by laid-off GM workers from other locations.
The Bedford facility is one of three plants nationwide gearing up to make components for GM's newest fuel efficient V-8 engines.
They are assembled in New York and Ontario, Canada.
A GM spokesman says the $111 million investment in Bedford is part of a $890 million plan to improve the fuel economy of the company's pickup trucks, SUV's and high-performance cars.
