(MITCHELL, IN) - A worker at Lehigh Cement Co. fell 10 feet through a hole in the floor that leads into the company’s basement.
The worker, who is not being publically identified for privacy reasons, will be away from work for six to eight weeks to recover from injuries sustained during the fall.
Lehigh Plant Manager Ed Epping says that the accident happened while employees were installing grating over the hole and that the company is glad that his injuries were not life-threatening.
Before Tuesday, the plant had gone 2,163 without an accident, the longest in the plant's 108-year history.
