(UNDATED) - New data on Indiana smokers shows the state is doing better but still have a long way to go.
Karla Sneegas,Eexecutive Director of Indiana Tobacco Prevention and Cessation says there has been a drop in the smoking rate in Indiana.
The new data shows a 3% drop to 23% in 2009 from 26 in 2008.
Sneegas says an important step in getting that number even lower is to make Indiana communities smoke free.
She says Indiana is behind on smoke free laws.
This past weekend Michigan became our newest neighbor to ban smoking in all workplaces.
