(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - A Bloomington doctor is facing several serious criminal charges.
58-year-old Kamal Tiwari is accused of health care fraud, health care fraud resulting in serious bodily injury, and eleven counts of unlawful drug distribution.
U.S. Attorney Tim Morrison says Tiwari's arrest Thursday follows a more than two-year investigation by several agencies, including the Indiana Attorney General's Office and the FBI.
He allegedly had patients undergo medically unnecessary injection procedures, so he could prescribe them controlled substance prescriptions such as Methadone, Percocet and Oxyontin.
