(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - Indiana University Police were called to the scene of a ruptured gas line on the north side of the Indiana Memorial Union late Wednesday morning.
Indiana University Police Chief Jerry Minger says that Vectren Gas Company was contacted and seven officers were on the scene diverting traffic from 7th and 8th Street north of the Indiana Memorial Union.
Minger says that the line was ruptured after a backhoe was digging in the area to install a new patio near the entrance to the Indiana Memorial Union entrance.
Officials say that for the most part, the incident was taken care of quickly and efficiently.
The line was repaired a short time later.
