(ORLEANS, IN) - State Representative Sandy Blanton of Orleans is informing Indiana residents to disregard emails they may have received from her email account asking for money.
Blanton says that the emails claim she was attacked and robbed while attending a conference in Malaysia to help combat Aids, poverty and lack of education and is now in need of money to return to Indiana.
Blanton, who has never even been in Malaysia, states, "while that conference sounds admirable, everything about the e-mail message is wrong."
She states, "while my husband always appreciates contributions to our family coffers, we do not need any money at this time."
Law enforcement officials are currently looking into the hacking.
