(WILLIAMS, IN) - The Williams covered bridge was set on fire early this morning.
According to the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department, the bridge suffered very little damage with a nearby officer extinguishing most of the fire until the Williams Volunteer Fire Department arrived and extinguished the rest.
The four foot section of damage was repaired by 9:00AM this morning allowing the bridge to be re-opened.
A $5 million project to build a more modern bridge is currently underway.
