(INDIANA STATEHOUSE) - The number of nominees vying for the State Supreme Court opening is down to nine.
The judicial nominating committee began interviewing 34 applicants Tuesday and voted for the semi-finalists early Wednesday evening.
The list includes State Senator Brent Steele of Bedford, four judges and four attorneys.
The candidates will be narrowed to three finalists during the next round of interviews in executive session on July 30th.
The finalists will be chosen in a public vote.
Governor Daniels will name one of the finalists as the next Indiana Supreme Court Justice.
