(BEDFORD, IN) - A Bedford woman is facing charges after leaving six animals in an abandoned house to die.
Susan French was cited on a misdemeanor charge of animal cruelty on Tuesday.
Police say that the department received an anonymous call on Thursday after receiving reports of a strong odor of decomposing flesh coming from the O Street residence.
When officers went inside the home, they found three dogs, one of which was dead, and three doves in a birdcage, two of which were dead.
Police say that the surviving dog had become so aggressive that it had to be put down.
French was arrested on Tuesday.
