Man Commits Suicide Following Police Search

(PAOLI, IN) - A Paoli man took his own life yesterday afternoon following a police search for him.

Police were at first informed of a missing, suicidal man that was believed to have disappeared in Cox's Woods.

Officers located 53-year-old Daniel Royer's motorcycle parked near the entrance to the forest.

Police K-9 units were unable to find the man inside the wood but still suspected him to be nearby.

Nearly six hours later, Orleans Police Officer Alex Fugate came into contact with Royer when the man held the gun to his head and pulled the trigger.

Daniel Royer was pronounced dead and taken to Bloomington Hospital of Orange County.
