Last updated on Friday, September 10, 2010

(MITCHELL, IN) - Former Mitchell City Police Dispatcher and reserve officer, 25-year-old Isaac Terrell, has made a plea agreement in the case accusing him of possessing child pornography.

Terrell who is the son of Mitchell Mayor Dan Terrell, agreed to an amended charge of Class A Misdemeanor Obscene Performance.

After his plea, Terrell was sentenced in the Lawrence Superior Court to one year, suspended to probation and 40 hours of community service.

In July of 2009, State Police seized a phone containing a picture that police believed depicted sexual conduct by a child less than 16 years of age.

Lawrence County Superior Court Judge Michael Robbins ruled in favor of Terrell's request to suppress state evidence in the case.

Judge Robbins found that the cell phone could not be used as evidence.

Terrell is not required to register with the Indiana Sex Offender Registry because the plea was amended to a misdemeanor.
