(MITCHELL, IN) - In a special meeting at the Mitchell City Council, members agreed to proceed with buying land off Teke Burton Drive and selling the former Foamcraft facility on Fifth Street.
The council came into agreeance that buying one parcel would allow the city to expand its cemetery or its park and selling the other would allow a local business to expand and create a few new jobs.
Mitchell Mayor Dan Terrell says that the foam craft building will be sold to Orleans businessman Brian Jones who plans to put an auto parts warehouse operation in the building.
The sale price would be $130,000.
Terrell stated "we have to jump through a lot of hoops to sell city-owned property" and did not want to start the process if the council did not want to proceed.
Council members unanimously indicated the city should proceed.
