(UNDATED) - Consumers should be aware of some new rules on gift cards this year.
The rules, enacted by the Federal Reserve Board, should benefit customers.
Bill Thomas with the Central Indiana Better Business Bureau says the gift card balances cannot expire until after five years.
New regulations also require any fees to be better printed on the card and that any fees can only be enacted after the card has been unused for a year.
