(MITCHELL, IN) - Mitchell School Board Members agreed on Tuesday to consider “the cancellation of the contract” with its incoming superintendent, Alva Sibbitt.
Sibbitt, through the use of his attorney, indicated he wanted a public hearing to present his case.
The board's action comes in the wake of Sibbitt's arrest in Paoli earlier this month.
Sibbitt's attorney stated during the meeting that the longtime educator has done nothing wrong.
The formal motion passed Tuesday instructs the school board attorneys and staff "to prepare and take all steps necessary to establish a day for this board to consider the cancellation of the contract of Alva Sibbitt."
No specific date has been mentioned.
