(LONDON, IN) - The man who directed “Breaking Away” has died.
British Director Peter Yates' 1979 movie about four friends growing up in Bloomington in the shadow of Indiana University brought I.U.'s Little 500 Bike Race international attention, and earned Yates an Oscar nomination for best director.
Yates was also nominated for 1983's "The Dresser."
He directed 21 other films in a 36-year career, including "Bullitt" and "Suspect."
Yates was 82.
