(MITCHELL, IN) - The Grissom Air Museum is planning to add a display of Gus Grissom, the southern Indiana astronaut it’s named after.
The museum at Grissom Air Reserve Base, which sits about 60 miles north of Indianapolis will use a wintertime closure to change exhibits and add some new ones.
Officials say that most visitors to the museum do not know that Gus Grissom was one of the original seven Mercury astronauts and the second American in space.
Grissom died in a launch pad fire in 1967.
