(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - Bloomington school leaders apologized Thursday to a teen for calling her interpretation of the Star Spangled Banner offensive.
Bloomington High School North had told Shai Warfield-Cross she couldn't sing at an upcoming game unless she sang in a more traditional way.
Administrators claim there were complaints after a game against Martinsville that the anthem was disrespectful and unrecognizable.
The teen got a written apology from the school Thursday and has been invited to sing again.
